Since the focus of Le Grand Cru shifted to produce and train non-Western cultures, our Dutch artistic work is mostly committed.
Poverty Requiem is a multi-annual project, originally commissioned by Oxfam Novib. It was the first online downloadable choreography parts of which have been carried out all over the world. The Leroy High School for Performing Arts has fully learned the choreography over the internet and played at the World Bank and the U.N. The choral music in five parts, written by Sylvia Borren and composed by Peter Maissan is about injustice. Le Grand Cru created five choroegraphies for students of the Preparatory Dance Academy in Venlo. For his school, led by Liesbeth Wiertz, Noortje Bijvoets started choreography work in the 90s. There are now six productions realized including a collaboration with the National Cuban Academy for Modern Dance and Folklore.
Poverty Requiem has evolved into a mass choreography, performed by 60 dancers and 80 singers.
The Great Hero Show is a mission of ING BANK and the Rijksmuseum to create a family show during SAIL 2015. The performance is inspired by Dutch naval heroes and was performed on and in front of the French three-masted ship Etoile du Roy, a replica of a battle ship from the time of Michiel de Ruyter. The text was written by Marije Gubbels and the music composition is made by Wiebe Gotink.
